Advent Calendars (Blogmas 5)

Today is the 5th day of Blogmas and I thought I'd share one of my favorite Christmas traditions ever. The Advent Calendar! Every year my grandmother buys my siblings and I an Advent Calendar. This is a little cardboard box(???) that has hidden windows with the numbers 1 through 25 (sometimes 24 depending on the calendar) on them. Every day of December until Christmas you get to open the window with the corresponding number on it ( or you can use it as a count down to Christmas sort of thing, your choice) and eat the piece of chocolate found there! It's delicious and exciting!

There are other kinds, such as calendars with numbered pockets, or any number of home made advent calendars.

Do you do advent calendars? What kind do you use? Have another countdown tradition? Comment below and share! Thanks for reading and Happy Blogmas!

  1. I love Advent Calendars! When I taught school, I always asked parents to donate their old Christmas cards each year when Christmas was over. I'd save them until the next year and my students would make their own Advent Calendars, using cut out pictures from the cards to hid behind the little windows. They loved it!!
