Review: Home On The Range by Ruth Logan Herne

Nick is a single dad of two girls. Both are feeling the pain of mother-abandonment, especially Cheyenne, the oldest. After being hounded by the kids' principal for 8 months, Nick finally takes them to see a therapist. Elsa hasn't counselled for a while, but Nick and his girls are actually helping her come back into the real world. Sparks are even flying. But then the ex-wife shows up, and once again throws the girls' lives into a whirlwind.

1: I was there! Especially the scenes of Elsa's "Hobbit-house" I could feel myself being there. The beautiful descriptions in every scene made me quite forget that I was reading.

2: The sarcasm. The eye-rolling. The humor. All of this was right down my alley! I enjoyed it so much. It was a humorous read, but at the same time, a deeply emotional read. Funny, but not light. Not very light, anyway. Elsa is now one of my favorite literary characters ever. The therapist angle to this book was awesome, and I totally love the spiritual approach to counselling! YAY!

3: Quite possibly the sweetest romance I've read in a while. I know I say that more often than I should, but it just keeps getting sweeter! Not. Even. Lying.

4: Always want to say something about the cover if it's as cute as this one! The only thing was that the book was one of those narrower one, so I was worried the whole time about breaking the spine. I also got a few hand cramps. But it was TOTALLY worth it!

5: Okay, so this has less to do with the book, and more to do with the Blogging For Books program. But... The first time they sent me this book it got lost on the way. So I emailed them. They answered really quickly. Then they straightened out the problem, and I got the book really quickly. It's definitely a great service!

The perfect blend of Western cowboy stuff and not cowboy stuff. My ideal Western story!
