Lady Ella is visiting her friend Brook, and snooping in the library for information on the fire eye diamonds. Then she runs into Lord Cayton, and attraction is immediate. It doesn't hurt that he has a beautiful baby, Addie. Ella feels herself falling for the widowed lord. Unfortunately, the fire eyes are wanted by Lord Rushford, who feels himself attracted to Ella. Ella knows she can never fell that way towards the evil man. Kira is a ballerina sent by another party that wants the diamonds. She poses as a servant to Rushford's sister. Everything gets dangerous, and there are guns.
I know that was a lousy description.... but the book was ANYTHING but lousy!!! 5 stars!!
1: The mystery kept me turning pages. I was never sure who to trust. And that was a great, though terrifying, thing. I love a good mystery.
2: Addie was so perfectly sweet and it was so adorable how much Cayton loved her and spent so much time with her, and how much Addie loved Ella!
3: The characters, I loved the depth of character. It was so great. It seemed everyone had a deeper layer. Brook, Felicity, Kitty especially. Even Whit seemed to have more than meets the eye. I loved getting each new detail about all of the characters. Like how Tabby left her own baby with a sister to come care for Addie after Adelaide died. And Dorsey, it took me a while to see that one coming....
4: I liked the rotating view points. They were done so that at the beginning of each chapter I would say, "No, don't change yet! I need to know what happens now." and at the end of the chapter I would say, " I'm really glad the narrator changed!"
5: I was so glad that Dorsey and Rush got what they deserved! And while I was a little sad as to how it happened, I was so glad for Catherine's ending. And the epilogue was PERFECTION!!! I love epilogues!!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
