Cover Reveal: An Echo of the Fae by Jenelle L Schmidt

I can't wait to share my review of this book, because it was amazing. BUT... since I do have to wait, I'll just pop in here with the absolutely gorgeous cover, the blurb, and even an excerpt for all of you who want to read this [and for those of you who are going to want to read it after the except ;)]

About An Echo of the Fae:

Echo enjoys the peace and solitude of the Faeorn forest, regardless of how strange spending time in the “haunted” wood seems to others.

But on the cusp of her thirteenth birthday, the discovery of a family secret reveals why Echo has never been drawn to the sea like her mother. This discovery shakes the foundations of her world and sends Echo on a quest, not merely into the forest, but into the heart of the fae-lands themselves, to rescue the sister she didn’t know existed.

Elves, dragons, and fairy courts will put Echo’s wit and resolve to the test. But with time running out for her sister, will Echo even be able to save herself?

A fairytale adventure perfect for fans of The Secret of Roan Innish and The Girl Who Drank the Moon.

Endorsements:
“Enthralled by the terror, charm, riddles, and beauty of a richly depicted fae world, I devoured this marvelous book in two sittings! Readers of all ages will love Echo, a heroine strong in her weakness, clever and resolute amid her doubt and fear. An Echo of the Fae is sure to satisfy lovers of adventure and faery!” -- J.M. Stengl, author of The Faraway Castle Series

Isn't this cover gorgeous? I'm so in love! Feel free to share and get the word out. There are going to be links to pre-order at the bottom of the post, below the excerpt. And if you check around on other blogs, you might be able to find a different excerpt, since I know there are several floating out there.

EXCERPT

“You dare steal from the King of the Winter Court?” The voice reverberated through the air, its sheer, palpable power pushing Echo to her knees. The lantern dropped from her nerveless hand and clattered on the ground.
Echo bowed her head respectfully, racking her memory for every snatch of folk-tale she had ever heard about the Winter Fae or the Dark Host. “Forgive me, my lord,” she whispered. “I did not intend to steal from you. I merely seek to save the life of my sister.”
She heard soft footfalls approach across the sable ground but she did not dare raise her eyes, not even when she felt the touch of hot breath on the back of her head.
“You smell of truth.” The voice sounded puzzled. “Rise, seeker.”
Echo stood, wincing at the pain in her feet. But that thought fled with the rest as she came face to face with the largest tiger she had ever seen.
Upon reflection, it was the only tiger she had ever seen. But she was reasonably certain that, should she ever see another, it would be quite different from the monstrous beast that confronted her now.
Her eyes were even with his shoulders, and he stared down at her from his impressive height, his long whiskers twitching inches above her face. His fur was utterly black, the color of coal. Instead of stripes, Ritioghra’s—for it could only be Ritioghra—body was covered in swirls and whorls of gleaming blue, the same color as the Everflame. His eyes gleamed like two massive stars of an identical shade, and he gazed down at her with an expression of ferocious curiosity. He was utterly terrifying and utterly beautiful.
Terror coursed through her veins like ice, but the light of intelligence in his eyes gave her courage.     “For-forgive me, my lord.” Echo gave a wobbly curtsy.
The tiger stretched with a lazy nonchalance. Every line of his long body rippled with power and strength, like the unstoppable force of a river about to burst its banks.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jenelle first fell in love with stories through her father’s voice reading books aloud each night. A relentless opener-of-doors in hopes of someday finding a passage to Narnia, it was only natural that she soon began making up fantastical realms of her own. Jenelle currently resides in the wintry tundra of Wisconsin—which she maintains is almost as good as Narnia—with her knight-in-shining armor and their four adorable hobbits. When she is not writing, she homeschools said hobbits and helps them along on their daily adventures... which she says makes her a wizard.

And for our SECOND amazing cover reveal, book 3 in Kirsten Fichter's series is FINALLY here. (You may remember that I was in excruciating agony after reading the epilogue to book 2...)

Diamond: Once Upon a Twist #3
Diamond leads a quiet life with the woman she calls Mother. There isn’t much to pass the time save for excursions in the forest and one-sided conversations with her pet rabbit, Hobie. Men are cruel beings who care only for themselves and must be avoided at any cost. After all, Diamond’s own father gambled her away once. What other terrible fates might await her if people knew she existed?

Seth Stendahl is an alchemist with a middling proficiency in the Rohesian tongue. After growing up with and surviving six sisters, there shouldn’t be anything too difficult for him to master – except maybe breaking his leg and being locked in the top of a ruined watchtower.

This is Rapunzel with a twist like you’ve never seen it before.

SUPER EXCITED TO HAVE KANDI DO A GUEST POST!

Bigfoot: Protector or Menace

The stories of bigfoot abound all across the world—not only in North America. I was first introduced to bigfoot when I moved to the Pacific Northwest as a third grader. No specific memory stands out to me, but I do remember vague stories as we trekked into the forests around Tacoma, Washington. It wasn’t until I was older and had moved to the Southern Oregon Coast that I really started to pay attention to the tales.

A trip to Eureka, California, almost twenty years ago, piqued my interest. We went off Highway 101 up to Willow Creek. The closer we drove to the settlement, the more signs we saw. By the time we arrived, we had to stop at the bigfoot museum. The little hole-in-the-wall stop was filled with newspaper clippings, footprint casts, and videos—some live and others news footage. The whole trip sparked my imagination.

Fast forward to 2016. I had an idea of a trilogy that I wanted to write which featured a different mythical creature for each book. A dragon and a unicorn had already been chosen for the first two books, but I was stumped as to what to feature in book three. That is until a student came up to me and said I should write a book about sasquatch. What he didn’t know was how perfect that would be for the Myth Coast Adventures trilogy. Yet, I had no idea of what the story should be, even after writing books one and two! What should I do? I did what I do when I don’t know something—I turned to google.

The amount of information out there on bigfoot is rather impressive. I learned that sasquatch and yeti are not the same creature. Yetis are larger, taller, and lighter colored than sasquatch. Youtube videos show encounters with bigfoot. All of the tales portray sasquatch as a large predator who wants to be left alone, but what if they’re actually trying to protect something? With that thought, the sanraksaka were born—the protectors of the portals. Imagine my surprise to discover a magnet in a tourist shop that says, “This forest protected by bigfoot.” I had to buy it! You can enter to win it at the release party on facebook on Tuesday, September 10.

About Kandi: Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved. Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that's her own five or the hundreds of students she's been lucky to teach. When Kandi's not spinning words to create stories, she's using them to teach students about Spanish, life, and leadership.

SPINDLE DREAMS COVER REVEAL!!!!!!

(Yes, I am a little excited. Why do you ask?)

Spindle Dreams is Kirsten Fichter's newest fairytale book, and I am so in love! I can't wait for you to read it! Below you will see (A) the cover {DUH!!!} (B) The back of the book deal (C) Kirsten's picture and bio (D) Links to Kirsten's Facebook and Goodreads pages. {You should add Spindle Dreams to your Want To Read shelf... just sayin'}

{This gap is to build suspense ;)}

I love this cover, and I think her cover designer people are amazing!!!

Marita Kadlec is the only daughter of Rohesia's poorest – and laziest – weaver. Her father prefers to spend his days gambling in the tavern, leaving the spinning up to Marita. She hates the family business because she's constantly pricking her finger on the spindle. She'd much rather be tinkering on an invention that she hasn't had the courage to show anyone yet. A special invention that will rid her of spinning for the rest of her life.

Felix is a young nobleman plagued with the same nightmare – a giant machine, twisting and clanking, shrouded in fire, bent on pain and death. He's determined to find out what it means, no matter where the answers may lead him.

This is Sleeping Beauty with a twist like you've never seen it before.

Kirsten Fichter is a twenty-something Christian writer who loves being the wife to her favorite person ever, mommy to the most precious blessing, a piano enthusiast, a dragon buff, a serious bookworm, and an INFP synesthete. Fairytales have always fascinated her, and she has made it her goal to rewrite as many as possible and become known as the “Grimm Dickens” (i.e. mixing Grimm fairytales with a Dickens style). She is present in many online circles under the name “Kiri Liz” if you care about things like that. As you read this, she’ll be somewhere under a maple tree – trying very hard to finish the seventeen and half other stories she unwisely started all at once.

And there's even a super cool excerpt!!!!! Enjoy guys!!

After a few more minutes of digging, the stone came free. Will wriggled it until we could get a grip underneath and lift it out. I really had my doubts we could pick it up; I was sure it’d weigh close to a hundred pounds or more. However, to my surprise, it came free and up without a hitch, absurdly light for its size.

“Should it be this light?” I squinted at the rock in our hands.
“I don’t know.” Will shrugged his shoulder.
Chace shifted his grip. “I’ve never seen a single rock this big before. But it should weigh more than this. I still say it’s an egg.”
I was beginning to believe him, but there were some good reasons to doubt it, too. “What bird’s this big, and how did it get here? We’re a long way from the game park.”
The game park was the closest thing to a zoo we had. They had wild animals and some pet deer, sheep, donkeys, geese, goats, and peacocks to feed. They even had an emu and an ostrich, but I still couldn’t imagine either one having an egg quite this size.
Chace shook his head. “I don’t know, but listen.” He took a free hand and tapped ever so gently on the surface.
It echoed hollowly. Before anyone could say anything, a second fainter tap came as if in reply.
“What in the world?” I exclaimed, jumping and almost dropping the thing.
“It’s an egg,” Chace said with firm conviction. “I don’t know what kind yet, but it’s an egg.”
“Wh-what do we do with it?” Will looked like he wanted to toss it in the ocean.
“We keep it.”
Both Will and Chace looked at me as if I had just turned down a shot at a five-point deer during hunting season. I don’t know what I was thinking, but suddenly a fierce desire to protect the creature inside came over me
